Bryant Berry is a proud product of a loving family in the suburbs of Charleston, South Carolina. Growing up in the scenic beauty and rich history of the American South instilled in him a sense of pride in his family and communities, as well as a responsibility to uplift others. While studying at Morehouse College in Atlanta, he founded his first production company, which designed and produced immersive creative-driven live events and experiences. This led to working with brands like AirBnB, Coca-Cola, and RedBull while also completing coursework as a McNair Research Scholar in Psychology. After college, he grew into a Creative Producer role while working for the historic Atlanta Event Center at Opera, managing a multi-million dollar annual client portfolio, which included Diageo, P&G, Cure for Cancer, and countless musicians and production companies alike.

“I don’t decide if anything I do is good, and neither does the client. The people and communities inside the conversation decide; all I can do is guide the team to get it right with the resources we have.”

'Art Department' is a boutique B2B creative agency and production service company that specializes in creative strategy, art direction, and experiential design.
Currently, Bryant is a contract Creative Director and Producer for commercial brands through his company ‘Art Department’, as well as an independent Art Director and Set Decorator for narrative features and episodic television. His creative process is guided by four pillars: Methodology, Creativity, Quality, and Hype. With these guiding principles, he defines the ‘who’, ‘why’, and ‘how’ for clients that know ‘what’ they want to do and ‘when’. He believes that discernment is the key to guiding the process of answering those questions. He says, “Before stepping into the kitchen, we forage for the best set of cohesive ingredients, but just like cooking soul food, it’s crucial to feel it in the moment. Therefore, it’s essential to have strong partners who are adaptive and deliberate throughout the project to get the best product. I don’t decide if anything I do is good, and neither does the client. The people and communities inside the conversation decide; all I can do is guide the team to get it right with the resources we have.”
Bryant’s ‘Art Department’ is a boutique B2B creative agency and production service company that specializes in creative strategy, art direction, and experiential design. Their primary focus is on films, television, music videos, commercials, and experiential live entertainment that have a throughline of inclusion, advocacy, and community engagement. He expands on his idealogy and company goals “As a person who spends a lot of time developing spaces, both physical and cerebral, I feel a kind of responsibility to lend myself to the destruction of boxes in favor of constructing of new edifices of organization for those who want to exist beyond the confines of definitions applied to them. Folks placed in boxes rarely have claims to spaces where they can be without contention because the creators of the box define its operation. I believe that the most significant thing that any person can do, especially black women and men, is to think about who gave them their definitions and rewrite those definitions for themselves.”
