a warm and familiar space

It’s Thursday afternoon and the call comes in. The central set for an interview project shooting in a week is unbuilt and undressed. The Decorator that started the project can’t finish it and production needs calm, confident and creative solutions, and they need them right now. I answer the call.

For One Perfect Shot we built a light and airy loft in studio; and we did it in under a week. I anchored the room around the 2pc natural-white bouclé sofa with matching chair. From there I layered warm medium-tone woods with organic silhouettes with textured sheers mounted off the floor stacked against clean lined vintage and new-vintage accent pieces. There was an intention of  creating a calming space, made from natural materials, filled with natural light, and incorporating a minimalist aesthetic which is analogous modern Japanese design without the appropriation.

The goal for me was to create a space that worked for both the film makers behind the camera as well as the film makers in front of the camera for this series that takes us into some of the most brilliant minds today behind some of the most brilliant films of their careers.
